Mine Risk Awareness Training for Employees of LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine
Specialists from the Berdychiv and Zhviahel city district branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross held a joint mine risk awareness session for employees of LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, Podilske Main Gas Pipeline Operations Department. The event took place in the city of Zhviahel at the local industrial site.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has become one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. Employees of the gas transmission system are particularly at risk due to the nature of their work, which often involves:
- operating in fields, forests, rural areas, and near roads, lines, and hubs,
- working beyond the boundaries of fenced-off areas,
- carrying out excavation and repair works where explosive ordnance may be present.
The session aimed to raise awareness among gas transmission system employees about the dangers posed by mines and explosive devices, and to equip them with the knowledge of how to act safely if such threats are discovered.
These information sessions are a vital step in protecting the lives of workers and ensuring the continued stability of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
