The Ukrainian Red Cross responds to the overnight mass attack on Ukraine

Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams, in coordination with first responders, are assisting in the aftermath of last night’s large-scale attack on Ukraine.

  • Zhytomyr

In the Zhytomyr region, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team provided first aid to victims alongside personnel from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. One injured woman was evacuated by ambulance. Volunteers also supported efforts to recover bodies trapped under the rubble.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, three children were killed and twelve people were injured as a result of the Russian attack.

  • Kyiv Region

In the Fastiv district, the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team operated at the scene of the attack. Volunteers, together with first responders, conducted house-to-house checks and searched the surrounding area to locate victims. They also assisted in recovering bodies from the rubble. Two volunteer crews were involved in the operation.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kyiv region, the overnight attack resulted in four fatalities and sixteen injuries, including three children. Rescue operations remain ongoing.

  • Mykolaiv

Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Mykolaiv region responded to a strike on a residential building. During rescue operations, volunteers provided first aid to ten people. Two victims with serious injuries were handed over to paramedics. Psychological first aid was offered to more than thirty individuals.

Victims received humanitarian aid kits and blankets. Emergency workers and local residents were also able to access hot drinks and charge their mobile phones. Volunteers assisted first responders in evacuating people from the damaged building and recovering bodies from the rubble.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, one person was killed and five others were injured in the attack. Over 200 people were evacuated from the building.

  • Ternopil

In the Ternopil region, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team responded to an attack on an industrial facility. Volunteers remained on duty at the site to provide first aid if necessary and distributed drinking water to emergency workers.

  • Kharkiv

Two crews of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region were deployed to the scene of the attack. Volunteers carried out inspections of the damaged buildings and the surrounding area, administered first aid and psychological first aid to victims, and transported an injured child and his mother to the hospital.

According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, two people were injured in the drone strike.
