Assistance to Those Affected in the Donetsk Region

Russian troops continue to attack communities in the Donetsk region. In the first days of the new year, according to the National Police of the Donetsk region, 12 localities came under fire: the cities of Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Toretsk, and the villages of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Bahatyr, Zvirove, Ivanopillia, Kindrativka, Kryvorizhzhia, and Novodmytrivka.

On 3 January, the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Donetsk region responded to the shelling in Sloviansk. Volunteers inspected the area around the emergency site to identify those affected and provided psychological first aid to the victims and their families.

Moreover, volunteers from the Druzhkivka city branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with the Kramatorsk branch of the Donetsk regional emergency response team, went to the village of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka. There, they provided hot meals to the utility workers who were mitigating the aftermath of the enemy attack. They also distributed bottled water and ready-to-eat food to those affected and local residents.
