Over the past year, more than 500 people have received rehabilitation services from the Ukrainian Red Cross
In 2024, the Ukrainian Red Cross physical and mental rehabilitation team launched a project involving mobile rehabilitation units to provide access to quality rehabilitation services within communities.
The teams, consisting of physical therapists and their assistants, work directly with community residents in their homes or in specially equipped spaces.
They currently operate in nine regions: Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Chernihiv, Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Khmelnytskyi.
Key outcomes from the first year:
- More than 500 people have received rehabilitation services.
- Over 4,000 visits have been made to provide rehabilitation sessions.
- 100 training events have been held, attended by more than 1,300 participants.
In addition, trainers of the mobile rehabilitation units conduct training sessions for beneficiaries’ relatives, medical and social professionals, and community members. They also actively disseminate knowledge about rehabilitation to help create a barrier-free environment.
The mobile rehabilitation units project has become a crucial step in expanding access to rehabilitation services across various regions of Ukraine. This is just the beginning of much more work that lies ahead.
