URCS ANNOUNCES THE COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF PSS SENIOR OFFICER

Senior Officer is in charge to support the URCS’s HQ PSS Unit in implementing PSS programmes and projects, as well as developing the system of PSS services within the URCS’s branches.

Qualification requirements:

University degree, preferably in the field of social science, psychology, project management, humanitarian faculty
At least 1 year of professional experience in psychosocial field  is required
Previous work experience as project manager
Good time management and organisational skills
Integrity and honesty in dealing with confidential information
Ability to work independently and execute tasks in a reliable and competent manner
Strong ability to communicate with people and colleagues at different levels

Tasks and responsibilities

Project support:

Take part in project planning, preparation and activities organisation
Contribute to assessments, baseline studies, participatory assessments etc. as relevant
Monitor programme progress including regular field-visits branches
Take part in managing project(s) related partnerships
Provide communication materials in link with project achievements

Technical PSS quality:

Ensure proper PSS activities design and implementation
Consult, disseminate and monitor relevant PSS guidelines and materials use
Provide technical guidance to staff and volunteers when needed
Ensure the implementation of the PSS minimum standards

Organizational and methodology development:

Support the PSS Unit coordinator in developing strategy, policies, SoPs and global action plan
Contribute actively to PSS development at National level
Implement the caring for carers mechanism in link with Volunteer development Unit
Contribute to the educational system for volunteers, including providing and facilitating organization of PSStraining

Coordination, information and communication:

Coordinate regularly with all URCS departments to address PSS cross cutting issues
Contribute to the PSS Expert Group within the URCS
Participate to the exchange with Red Cross partners in Country on PSS matters

The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.

Must know:

Knowledge on Humanitarian, development and social fields
Knowledge of project management cycle, methodologies and tools
Knowledge on psychology, social work and protection
Excellent level of written and spoken English
Excellent level of computer skills MS Office, Word andExcel
Knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset

Relationships (communications) by position:

The PSS Senior Officer will report directly to the PSS Unitcoordinator. He/she will work in close cooperation with the PSS Technical Advisor; other PSS project manager(s) and co-manage the regional PSS and social cohesion managers. Daily communication and coordination within the Unit, as well as with other Unit and Departments is expected. The PSS Senior Officer will ensure regular cooperation and communication with Red Cross partners in country.

WORKING CONDITIONS: PART-TIME, DURATION: 8 MONTHS
